Be Here Now Retreat • Bali Soulshine

Overview

Joy, passion, and wonder will be a the center of this retreat led by Janet Stone with live music.

Over 7 days, we’ll dive into deep immersive yoga practices, beat filled dances, and the abundant exploration of the potency that is Bali.

Throughout our time together, we'll explore practices in presence, in bringing our attention to this moment to BE HERE NOW.

We’ve got this one short adventure of life and yet so often we miss it worrying about the past, the future and spinning stories of division. What does it take to be fully awake for it, feel it all, lean into the crashing wave of the moment and lap it all up. Are we willing to feel it all? Touch into the uncomfortable edges and see what’s beyond the mask?

The practices of yoga call our attention to the moment-to-moment choices of where we place our most precious gift: our life force. Amidst the lush backdrop of Bali and the rich culture of the Balinese people, we'll dive again and again into what it is to be fully present for our lives.

Janet Stone

Janet Stone

Janet’s studentship began at 17 under the meditation teachings of Prem Rawat. His reverence for simplicity and finding joy in the rise and fall of life live on in her practice and teaching today. In 1996, she traveled to India, the birthplace of her grandfather, and became dedicated to the path of yoga. Janet blends the alchemy of her own practice with decades of studentship. She aspires not to teach but to allow the practice to emanate from her, letting awareness blend with movement and breath. Based in Bali and San Francisco, she leads immersions, retreats, workshops and more.

FAQ

When will the retreat begin and end?

The training will begin with dinner on April 22 and end with breakfast brunch on April 29.

What is the deposit, and is it refundable?

The deposit is $808, and it is non-refundable and non-transferable. Read our cancellation policy.

If there are exceptional circumstances, such as ongoing covid-related restrictions, we will adapt this policy accordingly.

I saw Janet is also offering a training in Bali. Which one is a better fit for me?

If you are seeking an opportunity to unwind, chill and explore Bali, then the Bali Bliss retreat at Soulshine may be more your speed. There will be 1-2 practices per day and loads of free time, for exploring, optional excursions, and just relaxing.

If you are are looking for a teacher training and a deep immersion in practice, the training will be a great fit. The immersion is intensive, with daily morning practice, followed by training material until dinner time (with generous breaks for breakfast and lunch). The training will include dharma/philosophy sessions, anatomy + ayurveda, asana lab + assisting practice, and more). The immersive nature of the training tends to cultivate pretty deep bonds, as you are together for so many hours. The immersion includes group excursions that everyone does together, plus all the training time.

Which airport should I fly into?

Bali’s airport is in Denpasar. It is about 1.5 hours from Bagus Jati.

Which airline should it book with?

This will depend on your city of departure.

We highly highly recommend booking directly with the airlines, and choosing an airline that is offering refunds or flexible changes.

How long is the flight, and when should I plan to arrive and depart?

The length of the flight will depend on your departure city, of course. From the US, it takes about one day of travel. Most flights go through either Taipei or Singapore. Plan your flights so you arrive no later than 3 pm on Saturday, April 22. You can depart on April 29—flights that depart after 3 pm are ideal.

Again, we highly recommend booking flights directly through the airlines. China Airlines and Singapore Airlines are among our most recommended options.

If you can, we strongly encourage extending your trip on either end (or both :).

How do I get to and from the airport?

We will work with Soulshine to coordinate transportation to and from the airport for those arriving on 22 April or departing on 29 April. The transfer fees are not included in the retreat, because many students choose to travel on their own before or after the training.

If you arrive early (or depart late), most guest houses, Airbnb's and hotels can help you book airport transfer to or from your lodging.

Do I need a visa?

Many countries qualify for Visa on arrival.

How do I exchange my money?

Currency exchange services are very easy to find in Bali. These are recommended over ATM's due to ATM fraud, so we recommend bringing cash for rides and incidentals.

Just to be sure, what is included in the registration fee?

  • Accommodations
  • most meals
  • Daily practice
  • Filtered water
  • 1 group excursion

What is not included?

  • Airfare to and from your home to Bali
  • Tips for the retreat center staff (around $10USD/day, to be shared with the many individuals who make their living supporting our trip; please bring CASH)
  • Airport transfers in Bali
  • Visa on Arrival fees
  • Incidentals (snacks, laundry service)
  • Spa treatment (the spa is incredible)
  • Additional excursions
