Portugal has been on the retreat wish list for so many years, and finally—finally—I am so excited to announce that we are going.
Escape to the serene landscapes of Portugal for a rejuvenating retreat. From morning sunrise practices to sunset dinners, our time together will reflect the spaciousness of wide open skies and the calming rhythm of the sea.
We'll head to Monte Velho retreat center in the Algarve to find space to expand our perspective. We'll settle in with views of the Atlantic Ocean, which is about 2 km away, for rejuvenation, practice and incredible food.
Offerings will include daily yoga (twice a day most days), day trips to the beach, access to the spa, sauna and steam room, and fresh, local meals.
Optional activities and excursions include stargazing & storytelling, guided hikes through the nature preserve, and SUP, surf or kayaking excursions.

Accommodations will include a range of options. We can help match roommates for double, triple/quad and dorm options.
Single and double rooms are limited.
The retreat can apply to 40 elective hours for Janet's teacher training programs.
Registration is open. Early rates are in effect through May 4, 2024, and will increase by $200 on May 5, 2024.
A $1008 deposit secures your spot. Once you register, you'll be redirected to options for the remaining balance. Payment plans begin in January 2024, and pay in full options (card or check) are due in May 2024.
Janet’s studentship began at 17 under the meditation teachings of Prem Rawat. His reverence for simplicity and finding joy in the rise and fall of life live on in her practice and teaching today. In 1996, she traveled to India, the birthplace of her grandfather, and became dedicated to the path of yoga. Janet blends the alchemy of her own practice with decades of studentship. She aspires not to teach but to allow the practice to emanate from her, letting awareness blend with movement and breath. Based in Bali and San Francisco, she leads immersions, retreats, workshops and more.
The training will begin with dinner on August 4 and end after breakfast on August 10

The closest international airport is Faro, Portugal. You can also fly into Lisbon or Porto. We can help arrange shuttles from Faro, or from Lagos (the closest bus station).
The best airline will depend on your departure city. We highly highly recommend booking directly with the airlines, and choosing an airline that is offering refunds or flexible changes.
We will work with the team at Monte Velho to coordinate ground transportation. For those landing in Faro, shuttle fees are €120 each way, and can be shared among 3 people. For those landing in Lisbon, we recommend taking the bus to Lagos(about €30 each way). From there, we can arrange shuttles from Lagos, which are €60 for up to 4 people. We'll do our best to group folks into shuttles to help share cost.
While a visa is not required for individuals from many countries to enter the EU, a travel authorization will be required in 2024 for individuals from 60 countries, including the US, Canada, UK and more. The fee for this is €7.
